When it comes to picking out women’s sunglasses, it’s a good idea to know what kinds of styles fit certain faces. Generally, faces come in one of three shape groups with a few variations in between. The three groups are diamond, square, and triangle shaped faces; round and oblong faces; and oval shaped faces. Once you know the kind of face you have, you can really narrow down the right pair of sunglasses for you.
If you don’t know what kind of face you have, ask a friend to help you choose or look in the mirror and see which shape would best describe your face. Women who have diamond, square, or triangle shaped faces will have sharp and angled features. The best pair of sunglasses will be ones that help to soften these sometimes very hard lines and angles. Try on those whose lenses are more oval shaped for the best results.
But, you say, you face is anything but angled. Then it’s very possible that you’ll fall into the round or oblong group. These two types require nearly opposite styles to compliment them. For round faces, your face tends to be very circular. Here, wide, rectangular lenses will give the appearance of lengthening your features.
An oblong shape (think of a circle stretched out at the sides), however needs something much narrower to help make your face look thinner. Round or square lenses do the job best.
Finally, if your face falls into the oval category, then you are in luck! You can get away with wearing the widest style of women’s sunglasses without worrying much about whether they look right on you or not. Of course, you’ll still want to make sure that whatever style of lenses and frames you decide to go with that they still compliment your appearance.
Knowing the shape of your face can go a long way in helping you find just the right of women’s sunglasses. With so many styles (round, square, rectangle, wide, narrow, oval, etc.) to choose from, the choice is often bewildering. Knowing which shapes to avoid and which ones will work best can help point you in the right direction so can concentrate on finding just the right pair of women’s sunglasses in just the right shape for your face.
